Four Weeks Of Blogging: Everything I’ve Learned

Afam Uche - Four Weeks Of Blogging

Time stamps without delay I must say, today makes it four weeks since I launched my website and was initiated into the Blogging circle; I’m still getting used to referring to myself as a Blogger; I reached 12,000 hits a couple of days ago and it was mind-blowing.

The beginnings are always the burning period, when you are able to pass the early stage, letting discipline and patience sculpture you, the process becomes easier…. I hope.

Blogging from the surface was not what I envisioned and expected; I know about the growth process, climbing stairs, not elevators, the keywords and SEO saga but venturing into the Blogging world revealed certain things to me.

I did a handful of research and I could vow that I was more prepared for anything I could come across and I was going to make it clear cut.

But venturing is knowing, blogging is way more than curated aesthetics outlined in formats with unique themes. Yes, I won’t lie these early stages have been challenging and inputting the process into my schedule.

As a starter, establishing my social media presence, finding a tribe, building a community, researching, skinning experience as a teacher is a whole lot and can be totally overwhelming.

I am trying to see the process as a delight, not a chore and I think in order to do this I have to take things slowly and religiously.

Nobody told me about the overwhelming feature of behind the scene work (Writing, editing, and curating pictures). It is beyond what you see, what the audience sees- there is a whole lot of underground, background, processed experience.

There is a lot behind the scenes more to clicks and visits. The rigors or rather detailed process taken to create quality content. And in my space, reflections, and experience of four weeks, I have learned this.

1.  Take It Slowly As A Starter

I wanted to give so much more to my Blog, create and pour out rich content like I saw other influential Bloggers doing as well as triggering my traffic, but my time limited me; being a student and a freelancer isn’t easy, I started to question my efficiency pulling up a string of comparison.

Rule number one never compare your space to another, your Blog is your knowledgeable catalog where you share contents related to you, and to do this efficiently you shouldn’t be hibernated by someone else.

It is more than okay to take it slowly as you understand, grow and climb up to the top.  You can’t be perfect but can groom your level of experience; you have a purpose for creating a Blog, always let your content be aligned to the purpose.

2.  Creating A Good Strategy

I want you to understand the power of strategy as a recipe for growth. Some people get into the Blogging world and in a phase of 3 to 6 months or even less they are at the top; this is because a solid and efficient Blogging strategy that works for them was discovered and initiated.

So do not be afraid to experiment and expand, take courses if you must, make more research as you go.

It is evidently important to know what works for you and stick to it, as it will make your Blogging process and growth seamlessly successful; this comprises of knowing your target audience, what kind of post they relate with, identifying a problem you are solving and sticking to your purpose.

3.  Stay Authentic

In a world drowning with several niche and gigs, you have to believe in yourself to hone your voice and style. Stand out and not be a replica of another’s shadow but rather cast your light on your space, stick to your purpose of creating a Blog and align to it.

Yeah, you want to write killer blog posts with high clicks and recognition; you may be tempted to go into the rampant market, trust me, I know that feeling of imitation; the seductive act of copying what other successful people are doing. Do not get swayed!

You do not grow overnight but evolve step by step. Be true to yourself, to your uniqueness, and to your niche. You can be inspired by successful Bloggers as they mentor you but do not outline your productivity to their creativity.

4.  Be Patient

Oh Yes! “Uche be patient”, I can’t count how many times I repeated these words to myself. Rome wasn’t built in one day you have to be patient as you walk your way up as a beginner or starter.

You can’t overdo life’s phases, seasons and process, you can’t be perfect by one sketch but as you spend time with the canvas you know the different shades of creativity.

5.  Discipline

When I say discipline,  I mean staying in line to outlined schedules and activities when you are weary; you must be willing to sacrifice, sit your ass down for hours, grind through the night, sometimes miss the grove to come out uniquely and must be willing to go outside of your comfort zone.

One trick that helps is planning and scheduling; developing a schedule from the initial stages can be really overwhelming but outlining a schedule will ease the process.

We all want to reach the peak and achieve personal goals in terms of traffic and Blog Post and so there is a tendency of doing the unusual but in all, you should create time for yourself as well, its evidently important that you work hard rigorously if wanted and still create a balance to take care of yourself.

Experience is the best teacher and I’ll say in all honesty, I am still learning to adjust to the Blogging world; it is more than branding to me, but a passionate induction of insightful, authentic and inspirational content as I delve into my purpose and process of learning and unlearning.

So, tell me how long have you been blogging? Do you have any helpful hints or reflections to share? I’ll love to hear from you all.

Plus I am a professional writer, I have handled people’s Blog and created related content for a long time so it’s not entirely new to me.

  • Hi just came across your pinterest account and went straight to your blog to read..This was very much needed.. I just started blogging a month ago and I’m a 17 year old teen girl trying to help teen girls improve themselves and practice selfcare.
I didn’t expect blogging to be this much work, but it definitely taught me to be patient. Sometimes I felt like nobody was interested in my content and wanted to give up, but I’m still here. And still growing and learning. This post was amazing!
