In the journey of surviving and striving among other things, we sometimes get distracted, encounter creative burnt out, creative depression, writer’s block for the writers to be more precise and we hover around yearning for inspiration to resume with the spur of creativity.
Every writer has experienced this before, where you are plain and vacant of creativity and it is more than okay to have writer’s blocks, you need them, they are not bad for you; they only show that you are creative in nature and sometimes you need breaks to slowly think and reevaluate.
I want you to understand and see the process of overcoming writer’s block as a medium of reflection. If you are not having blocks or had not had at some point in time something is wrong! …..lmao I hope I am not sounding cliche.
One thing I want you to understand is that Block and inspiration are like light and darkness, true darkness is not the absence of light but it is the fear that light will never return. Same too for the blocks and inspirations, they both work hand in hand.
But a writer is doomed when all hope is lost that they will never be able to write again. Which I think is literally not possible….I mean there is so much to write about; stories yearning in your heart waiting to peel open, experiences only you can tell.

No one can really explain creativity you know, it just happens but that doesn’t mean there are no guides or directives on coming out from that enclosed boundary or block.
Inspirations are always with you and if you are finding it difficult, it is you that is not with it, you just have to get the ecstasy to always key into it.
But that’s okay I will be sharing some tips and directives that have helped me get my writing mojo back and overcoming writer’s block.
1. Reflect
We get distracted in the bustle and rush of survival that we don’t often take that pause from everything and dive into our inner forum; comparing and contrasting, brainstorming, creating mind maps and evaluating.
Tilt your head towards the light and the shadow will fall behind you. Relax its okay to not be inspired, It’s okay to not be aware, It’s okay to sometimes loose connection with everything, It’s okay to take a step back because in the stillness, there is growth.
Do not get lost or carried away, learn to highlight growth from every phase and situation.

2. Meditate + Breathe
Inspiration is a dialogue with energy so take that big step backward, listen and observe.
As a writer, a successful trick that keeps helping me create is that I stopped living in the moment but in the process of feeling alive, framing memories in words from closed eyes, frozen time, broken hearts held in a pocket of inspiration or creativity.
Allow yourself to feel, oftentimes it doesn’t click immediately but as your awareness refresh, it does. Inhale and exhale in that short span of life holds stories, slowly and steady as you refresh your thoughts and connect with the inside.

3. Switch Off Your Routine And Change Your Environment
Go for a walk, sit at a park, watch a movie, smuggle in music, dance, Read; you are what you consume, you want to spend a lot of time producing poetry, consume poetry. I personally love to sit at my balcony and let the clean wind caress my skin.
Where I capture laughter, pain, the sun sinking into the earth with words…. let’s not become all poetic. When we get accustomed to certain things, there is no delight and it can affect our inspirational spur. So do something that sizzles your blood flow.

4. Write
Put pen to paper and bleed; after series of inhales and exhales, scribble what comes to mind, do not be disturbed if you break the silence with a line or two meaningful or meaningless; keep writing. Write without thinking of editing; put your pen to paper and strip, forget it being messy and imperfect.
Start at any point, do not root for perfectionism or fear, just write! Eliminate distraction in the process. Write about what makes you angry, perturbed, elated and if nothing comes, write about the block.

“We are carriers of exceptional content;
With treasures of uniqueness carved in the walls of our soul
If you only search deep”
So whatever stage you are in currently do not be dismayed, everything you need to gear up and take the writing wheels is inside of you, you simply need to redirect your focus. These tips are directives to guide you which I hope will definitely be useful to you.
