20 Habits Of People That Are Never Stressed

Sharing is caring!

“You must learn to let go. Release the stress. You were never in control anyway.”― Steve Maraboli

Have you ever been stressed so much you feel like shutting down your existence for a bit of break? Perhaps, you are not applying some principles in your life.

It would shock you to realize that there are people who are never stressed. How is that possible? Well, read on! In this article, we will thoroughly look into the 20 habits of people that are never stressed. Grab a cup of coffee, and enjoy the ride.

Stress, when it becomes too much, ruins your day, week, month, or year. And in many cases, the impact of stress is usually negatively life-changing. Stress results from having too many things to do (or people to manage) and too little time to do it.
Stress can come in different forms:

  • A sudden death
  • An exam or test
  • Relationship problems
  • Anything at all can be stressful if you permit it to be so.

The point is, even when we try to avoid stress, nature has a way of reminding us that having total peace of mind is not the order of things.

Life is nothing but chaotic; we have some moments of respite. You have probably seen this somewhere, but I’ll say it anyway: stress kills. Like other things involved in a death, it is often something you never see coming. So dear friends and readers, get your stress levels under control so that you don’t die

Anyway, let’s get to the real issue. What habits do you need to imbibe to ensure that you are never stressed?
Let’s have a look at 20 habits of people that are never stressed!

1.  They Are Organized

Being organized means getting from A-Z without neglecting the other letters. You are putting your thoughts, duties, and responsibilities (literally your life) in order.

There’s a reason why you feel a certain satisfaction when a task has been done, be it tidying up your room or studying for a test. The average neurotypical brain enjoys order. Luckily, you probably possess an average brain.

Now, how do you go about it? You should write a to-do list, set reminders, and get accountability partners. When you follow through with your tasks, you find your satisfaction increase, and your stress levels go down.

2.  They Plan Ahead

‘Good fortune is what happens when opportunity meets the planning.’ – Thomas Edison

A lot of people don’t like surprises. I would say a lot of us despise them. Good or bad, surprises come with a lot of stress. I mean, who wants to spend time thinking about something they most likely are unable to stop.

When someone plans, it mainly involves making future decisions in the present. A lot of time and energy goes into planning, but that is nothing compared to the stress involved in making plans in the moment.

People that are never stressed ensure that their time is always planned; it’s almost always the best decision for all involved.

3.  They’re Proactive Energy Managers

‘The key is not to prioritize what is on your schedule but to schedule your priorities.’ – Stephen Covey

Don’t fret over something that you have no control over. Too much energy goes into worrying over things, situations, and people that can’t or won’t change. Why not be proactive? Being proactive is just you focusing on the things you can change to make things better.

You probably can’t change the fact that you’re having a test or growing older, but you can study beforehand and start to pick up good eating and exercise habits. You can’t change the future, but you can make sure your energy is going to the things that can change now.

4.  They Strengthen Their Weaknesses

‘Being aware of your weakness could be your biggest strength.’ – Gordon Hester

The world is unforgiving to signs of weakness and downright atrocious to the weak. Because you’re human, you are always going to have imperfections. You have to continually work on yourself not to be weighed down by your inadequacies.

It’s very distressing to consider your deficiencies, but you could either feel sorry for yourself or work on yourself. One of the most rewarding things you can do for yourself is to work on your weaknesses. Inner strength has a magical way of destroying stress.

5.  They Have Productive And Effective Routines

‘Productivity is never an accident. It is always the result of a commitment to excellence, intelligent planning and focused effort.’ – Paul J. Meyer

What do you do when you wake up? What do you do throughout the day? How much closer are you to achieving your short and long-term goals with each passing day? What does a new day represent to you?

All of this directly impacts how productive and effective your routine is. Refer back to the first point on organization; to-do lists, phone reminders, and accountability partners have everything to do with setting up and keeping to a routine designed to make your life easier and stress-free. After all, how can you be productive and effective if you’re constantly stressed?

6.  They Talk About Their Concerns

‘A closed mouth doesn’t get fed.’

The proverb ‘A problem shared is half-solved has never been more valid. Voicing out concerns not only gives them legitimacy but also helps lift burdens.

People often underrate talking about your problems, while you’re trying not to center your life around them, talking about them often gives you clarity and some alternatives to solve them. Talk to people.

7.  They Don’t Overanalyze Things They Can’t Control

‘We spend too much time overanalyzing, overthinking and overreacting to the things we can’t control.’ – Unknown
Stop overthinking things that you can do nothing about.

Why do we stress ourselves by lying awake at odd hours and analyzing scenarios, some of which haven’t even happened yet? Que sera sera. What will be, will be. Instead of overthinking things, we should be living in the moment and be preparing ourselves to face whatever comes head-on.

8.  They Are Mindful

‘Wherever you are, be there totally.’ – Eckhart Tolle

Often, our decisions are made in haste with regrettable consequences. We don’t usually take time to think about the things we do or say, and we don’t reflect on them afterward either.

Almost nothing is thought through. We aren’t nearly mindful enough of our actions. An angrily spoken word, a poorly thought out, and it all goes to dust.

Being mindful of our activities takes a lot of practice. It’s something everyone has to learn for us to coexist peacefully. We need to know how to think before we act before we speak and before we do. Being mindful of oneself and others is a beautiful way to live stress-free.

9.  They Set Healthy Boundaries And Avoid Drama

Drama is stress. It adds almost nothing to our lives, and so it should not be a significant part of it. We all have lines we aren’t willing to cross. The personal code of conduct guides most of our major decisions.

These boundaries are often protection against things that could attack our peace of mind. The same way we have something we wouldn’t tolerate from certain people is how we should have situations we refuse to enter.

It is a way of self-preservation. Do not allow things, people, and problems that you are not involved in to overwhelm you.

10.  They Have Techniques For Overwhelming Situations

Have you ever watched any of those movies where there’s an agitated situation, and one of the characters uses de-escalation techniques to restore normalcy? That’s what people with no stress do.

They have contingency plans and numerous de-escalation techniques for difficult situations, whether a crying baby, bothersome teenager, heavy workload, panic attack, or sudden misfortune; these guys are always prepared.

Anyone can learn these techniques. They include: changing the topic, telling a joke, asking questions, playing music, etc. If all else fails, they usually leave something that cannot be resolved (amicably).

11.  They Employ A Positive Mindset

‘The positive thinker sees the invisible, feels the intangible, and achieves the impossible.’ – Winston Churchill

Ah, the power of a positive thinker. Whether you think of them as the eternal optimists or absolute nutcases, you have to admit that they usually don’t appear to be under a lot of pressure and stress.

They believe in everything being alright at the day’s end certainly helps a lot of people. After all, problems never truly end. The quote, ‘I think, therefore, I am’ certainly holds. It is the classic case of a self-fulfilling prophecy. If you genuinely believe that some things are beyond your reach or capabilities and do nothing about it, then sadly, they probably will be.

It’s one of the cruelest ways to treat yourself. The power of having a positive mindset probably can’t be emphasized enough. We are only as limited as our minds, and when our minds have no limits, the impossible becomes possible. Instead of saying ‘I can’t’ you should rather say ‘I’ll try my best to’.

12.  They Practice Self-Discipline

‘Self-discipline is when your conscience tells you to do something, and you don’t talk back.’ – W.K. Hope

Books have been written to extol the virtues of self-discipline; most of them did not exaggerate. Self-discipline is one of the most significant character traits a person can have.

It absolves you of the guilt involved in the competition (showing off), allows you to enjoy delayed gratification, gives you the ability to make plans and follow through with them, and empowers you to overcome addictions.

Self-discipline can be described as tough love expressed towards yourself. When motivation isn’t enough, it ensures that you still accomplish the goals and targets outlined. When you make self-discipline one of your virtues, it saves you from the stress of being or having enough. It’s the ultimate chill pill.

13.  They Prioritize

‘If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.’

I’m pretty sure that at a point in all of our lives, we’ve heard the statement ‘You need to get your priorities in order. It usually comes from a loved one or superior who thinks our minds aren’t where they should be. They’re generally right at the time.

What are your priorities? What are the things, and who are the people you hold, dear? Where do certain things fit in your life? Everyone has priorities. For some, it’s family, some money, some work, and some themselves.

You need to set your preferences right to understand where most things fit into your life. It is necessary for easier decision-making, as you most likely know what to pick if a decision ever needs to be made. It saves you a lot of time and stress during emergencies.

14.  They Fill Their Buckets And Look After Their Emotional Stability

This can be by meditation, spending time out, eating healthy, doing yoga, laughing, etc.

‘The most important relationship is the one you have with yourself.’ – Diane Von Furstenberg

Do you look after yourself? Do you spend time asking yourself what you want? Do you prioritize your needs? Do you watch after your happiness? If the answer to most of all of these questions is no, I will not be surprised if you are on the edge of a nervous breakdown. You deserve to be looked after, and your happiness taken care of.

No matter how strong you are, you will inevitably crack under pressure if you don’t start taking care of yourself. Both your body and mind need to be nourished and healthy.

Take time or create some time in your schedule for yourself, if you haven’t done so already, to do things that please you and make you happy. Your health is just as important as those you are taking care of. It doesn’t have to be expensive; it just has to be for you.

15.  They Find The Good In Spending Less Than They Earn

‘There is no dignity quite so impressive, and no one independence quite so important, as living within your means.’ – Calvin Coolidge

In life, there should be no competition as we all run different races. There shouldn’t be a need to spend more than you are capable of. Don’t stress yourself by trying to be what you are not.

In an ultra-materialistic world like ours, this would be difficult, but no one gets a prize for racking up debt and living above your means. Joy can still be found in simple things.

Not everything has to be elaborate or expensive before they are worthwhile. Living within your means will save you a lot of future headaches or heartaches in the long run.

16.  They Eliminate Procrastination And Take Steps To Be Stress-Free

‘Procrastination is the bad habit of putting off until the day after tomorrow that should have been done the day before yesterday.’ – Napoleon Hill

Everyone procrastinates; it’s something we’ve all done at one point in time or the other. Procrastination is not being busy; it is delaying something you can do now for a later time.

It is aptly called a thief of time. It establishes a false sense of security on the presumption that there is still time to accomplish the goal.

If you want to avoid stress, avoid procrastinating, as it usually has a domino effect (it makes you do several things in a shorter period).

17.  They Aren’t Afraid To Ask For Help

No one can live in isolation. We all depend on each other in one way or the other. Asking for help should not be a big deal, yet for some of us, it often is.

Let’s get something clear; no single person can do it all. Being afraid to ask for help severely puts you at a disadvantage. The ability to reach out for help should never be undervalued as our weaknesses could be another’s strength.

Humanity has made it this far because we were able to assist one another. Asking for help is neither a sin nor a crime. It saves you a lot of stress when you can ask for help and receive assistance. Remember, when a mouth is closed, it doesn’t get fed.

18.  They Prioritize Their Mental Wellness

‘It doesn’t get easier; you just get stronger.’

Society is just coming to terms with the need for mental health awareness, but it is slow to embrace; it doesn’t mean you should not take your mental health seriously. Taking care of your mental health is one of the best things you can do for yourself.

There’s a lot of information much more readily available to us, and information overload is more likely to happen, which can seriously impact your mental health.

Seek professional help if you deal with mental health issues and learn to decompress when needed. Protect your mind. A healthy body but a sick mind is a dangerous combination.

19.  They Dissociate From Work At The Right Time

‘Work to live and not live to work.’

It would help if you were intentional about keeping work and your private life apart. Learn to treat your time doing each as sacrosanct. It does you no good when you take the stress of work with you back home. Your house is a sacred space; refrain from allowing it to become a second workplace. Your home is your castle; endeavor to defend it.

Plan ahead of the workweek for the things you hope to accomplish and give specific time frames during which work should be done. Avoid going out of the time-space allotted to prevent overworking yourself.

Make your workplace a bit less hospitable so that you can concentrate wholly on work. All of this, when applied correctly, should enable you to create a good work-life balance.

20.  They Have A Healthy Hobby/Outlet

‘Find three hobbies you love: One to make you money, one to keep you in shape, and one to be creative.’

What are your hobbies? What are the things that help you unwind and refresh? Everyone needs stress-releasing hobbies. Whether exercise, board games, or voluntary work, everyone needs something that they can enjoy and can also preoccupy their mind positively.

When life gets too chaotic, a good hobby might save you. Life is stressful because chaos is the natural order of things. In each of our journeys, we must encounter things that make us feel overwhelmed and want to give up. I hope that all of us find the fortitude to go through life.

Stress is a silent killer. All around the world, people are dropping dead due to too much stress from overworking themselves. Taking life more manageable, getting enough rest, prioritizing the things that make your life easier, and sleep is a thing that needs to be normalized all over the world. These habits should serve as a guide to allow never to be stressed.

It will take time to implement these habits, but as they become part of you, you will see stress disappearing from your life and increase your quality of life.

As the last word, a quote from a man much wiser than me;
‘Our greatest weapons against stress is the ability to change our thoughts.’- William James
