How To Be Charming, Charismatic And Be Effortlessly Likeable

Sharing is caring!

Have you ever been in a group where many individuals have different characters and backgrounds? And then you see someone there and become immediately impressed. Have you noticed their aura?

If so, you would have noticed that they are not always the ones that are the most intelligent — or the most good-looking either.

But one thing that sets them apart is that they know how to be charming and charismatic.

Yes, leaders do not necessarily need to be the most intelligent people in the group. However, all good leaders must possess considerable charisma and charm.

In this article, I will be providing exciting tips on how to be charming and charismatic. So kindly read along and enjoy.

Below are fifteen ways to be charming and charismatic

1.  Make Eye Contact Frequently

Making eye contact with people is one way of letting them know that you are not timid. You tend to make eye contact less often when nervous or shy.

When having a conversation with someone, ensure to make efforts to let your eyes meet theirs regularly. The more you do this, the more confident you become.

On the other hand, the person you are talking to will be aware that you are keenly interested in the conversation.

This is mainly important when you have taken up a leadership role of any form.

You don’t want your subordinates to detect any fear, concern, shyness, or timidity whatsoever when you are talking to them.

To avoid these, you must never forget to make eye contact from time to time during the conversation.

2.  Be Friendly With Everyone

In learning how to be charismatic and charming, it would be best to be friendly with everyone.

Of course, being friendly does not mean you have to start licking everyone’s toes. It is still vital that you set boundaries.

However, you must avoid situations that breed contempt and make you have foes. An individual who displays a lot of charisma is confident or open to talking to anyone around. Howbeit, you cannot speak to everyone if you are not friendly.

3.  Talk Less, Pay More Attention

People often mistake a charismatic fellow for talking too much or displaying excessive zeal in a situation without applying logic. I’m afraid that’s not right.

But as you are learning how to be charismatic and charming, your perceptions changes. You start to notice that a charismatic person talks less and pays more attention. This also is a critical leadership quality.

Of course, you may have something to say, but listen to what others have to say. That way, they would feel more involved and more comfortable talking to you. In addition, this act adds a sense of charisma to your personality.

4.  Don’t Act Too Tough

Charismatic and charming people are not tough-headed individuals. Instead, they are people who are brave enough to change unpleasant situations.

So, understanding how to be charismatic and charming requires you to be more lenient and cool-headed.

The truth is, no one likes to be around a person who is unwilling to listen to opinions or consider other people’s conditions. So, avoid acting too strict as a charismatic person in all that you do.

5.  Respect Everyone

Respect is perhaps the most important thing to know about being charismatic and charming. If you don’t respect other people, there is an excellent chance that no one will respect you.

Again, when you are respectful, you tend to earn people’s trust and support. People will see you as a unique person with integrity and self-worth.

As a result, you may find yourself constantly being encouraged to take up leadership positions. Always note that respect can earn you a lot of accolades in life.

6.  Always Find A Point Of Agreement

It is okay to disagree with someone over something. Arguments are fundamental in our everyday conversations. We learn new things and establish facts when we argue.

However, it becomes out of place when two individuals fail to find a point of agreement during an argument or dispute.

In learning how to be charismatic and charming, you need to avoid being too stubborn over an agreement. Instead, always try to find common ground with the other person or people involved.

Two years ago, I worked in a non-governmental organization that engaged in humanitarian activities. One day, our boss split us into two groups – six people per group.

Our group was tasked with organizing the budget and planning an upcoming event, while the other managed logistics. We were given two weeks to develop a detailed report of our plans.

Two leaders were assigned to my group. The other group had their leaders too. Work started, and we began to make necessary plans, carry out extensive research on events planning, and many more.

We held many online and offline meetings in my group to ensure that we made adequate plans.

As a result, each member had many suggestions, which led to many disagreements. However, we always resolved and everyone agreed at the end of each meeting.

We submitted our report two weeks later with a commendation from higher-ups. The work would have been less efficient if we didn’t work together.

That was when I realized how important it was, to find a point of agreement. I was glad I had worked with my group members.

7.  Admit You Make Mistakes Too

Everyone makes mistakes, but not everyone owns up to their mistakes. It is not excusable if you make a mistake and do not own up to it just because there are not enough pieces of evidence to prove you wrong.

This problem rears its head when you don’t own up even though you are aware of your mistakes. In life, no one is perfect. So, at a point in your life, you may have made mistakes.

Admitting your mistake is one of the best ways of displaying your charisma.

When you own up to your mistakes, you won’t only make people see you as a charming person. You would also make them understand how to be charismatic and charming through your attitude.

8.  Take Care Of Your Body

Before someone respects you for your inherent personality, the first thing that may command their respect about you is your body.

Hence taking care of your body is extremely important. Smell pleasant, eat good food, look fit and healthy.

A good body commands respect and attention. People will perceive you positively when you are well-built or physically in shape before talking to you.

9.  Make Bold Fashion Statements

Our clothes have a subtle way of sending messages about our personality to other people.

For example, making bold statements with the things you put on can make people see you as a charismatic individual.

If you wear a simple dress, wear it with elegance and grace. If you put on a T-shirt, wear a confident outlook too. Use what you wear to pass a strong message about your charisma and charm.

10.  Visit The Gym Regularly Or Keep Fit

Go to the gym as often as possible and put yourself in shape. The importance of looking physically fit cannot be overemphasized.

When you are fit, you become more healthy and confident in yourself and your body. As a result, you will become more charismatic; people will find you charming.

11.  Smile As Often As Possible

Smiling is a great way to bring all the charm in you. When you smile often, people won’t only find you attractive but will see you as someone confident in themselves.

Also, smiling is perhaps one of the best gifts you can give to others. From a personal experience, a sweet smile from you could be the reason why others feel good.

I smile a lot. As a result, different people have told me that they were attracted to me because of my smile.

Such comments make me feel good about myself and help boost my esteem. So, to be charismatic and charming, you need to smile often.

12.  Have A Good Posture

Having a good posture often makes one appear more alluring and magical. The way you position your body can make people sense your charisma.

A good posture suggests a strong charisma, while a poor posture means you are not charismatic enough.

So, to appear more charming and charismatic, always make conscious efforts to stand upright and not awkwardly.

13.  Help Those Who Need Your Support

Giving is another excellent way to show that you are charismatic. When you help others, there is a high chance they will cherish and respect you for a long time.

For example, in 2019, my uncle was sick and was admitted to the hospital. Unfortunately, he was in a coma for two weeks.

For those two weeks, most of our family members were always with him, saying encouraging words to him in his unconscious state.

Although the doctors assured us that he would be fine, they were surprised at how much concern everyone showed to ensure he regained consciousness. He had earned the respect of everyone in our community, including his family members.

We all saw the zeal and passion he put into helping others when we were kids. He was the perfect example of a humanitarian.

As a high school student, he was a member of the Red Cross Society and participated in many humanitarian activities — saving lives along the way.

He cared so much about people and supported them too. So, it was his turn to be supported, and we made sure we were always available for him.

14.  Be Proud Of The Things You Have Achieved

One of the best feelings you can ever experience is self-pride. While many people mistake self-pride for arrogance, it is entirely not it.

Instead, self-pride is the feeling you get for being happy with yourself — perhaps your achievements over the years.

A popular figure who has self-pride is soccer fan, Cristiano Ronaldo. Popularly known as CR7, he is one of the most accomplished players in soccer history, with numerous trophies and records to his name.

When Ronaldo talks about his achievements, he does so with happiness reflected in his comments and facial expressions.

Ronaldo always loves talking about his accomplishments during interviews. He believes he can achieve much more based on his previous successes.

15.  Build A High Level Of Self-confidence

In learning how to be charismatic and charming, you have to have lots of confidence in yourself.

Sometimes, self-confidence sets you apart from your peers and puts you in higher positions.

When you are confident in yourself, you will hardly ever get discouraged from doing what you have always wanted to do. Self-confidence is a pedal that sets you off to achieve your goals.

How To Be Charming And Charismatic At Work

It is essential to learn how to be charming and charismatic wherever you go. One of the most important places to display charm and charisma is at your workplace.

This part of the article will highlight six important ways to be charming and charismatic at work. Read along.

1.  Respect Your Colleagues And Be Friendly To Everyone

Your colleagues are probably the closest people to you when you are at work.

They are the ones who notice most of the things about you and tend to observe the kind of personality you display.

So, in learning how to be charming and charismatic, you need to be friendly to your colleagues. When you are warm and respectful, they will always have a favorable opinion of you.

2.  Carry Out Tasks With Passion And Commitment

You must be willing to carry out tasks with passion and commitment wherever you find yourself and whatever you do.

For example, when given a task at work, make sure you carry it out dedicatedly. It improves your reputation in people’s eyes.

3.  Avoid Unnecessary Issues With Anyone

To be charming at work, you must make efforts to avoid getting into trouble with anyone.

When you constantly have fallouts with your colleagues, people may start giving you negative tags and find you unapproachable.

It doesn’t matter whether you were at fault or not. Getting into trouble always never speaks well of an individual — especially at work. Therefore, you should do everything you can to avoid issues with your colleagues at work.

4.  Encourage Your Colleagues In The Best Way You Can

Whether you are the boss or just a random employee, you have a leadership role to play at work.

Your colleagues may find you charming and charismatic when you display leadership skills.

It doesn’t matter your position; what matters is what you have to offer. Sometimes, you may find a coworker looking sad.

Rather than walking away assuming they would cheer up later, go over to their desk and ask them what the problem is.

If they are willing to share their issues with you, ensure you find a way to encourage and support them.

Make them feel they are not alone and cheer them up by saying encouraging words.

5.  Talk To Everyone Politely

Being polite is one of the best ways of showing how to be charming and charismatic at work. People fancy courteous individuals and treat them with affection and respect.

So at work, when you talk to anyone — whether those below you or above — you speak to them politely. In truth, no one deserves disrespect. Everyone wants to be treated as humans, and it is essential to treat people that way.

6.  Be Confident And Assertive

Most of the time, the most charming people at work are always those who display high levels of self-confidence.

When they talk, it seems as though they know their worth and won’t go beyond a particular standard.

Hence, you must be confident and assertive while dealing with people at work. Do not show any sign of timidity or intimidation.

Be bold enough to give your opinions and politely disagree with others if necessary.

Conclusion

Wherever you go, and whatever you do, you should be able to possess a strong charm and charisma. Unfortunately, while many people want to have such an attitude, they do not know how to go about it.
