He was a traditional religious teacher until the age of 37 when he met a Muslim by the name Shams Tabrizi who changed the course of his life. Rumi is popular because he was one of the greatest spiritual masters, Persian poets, and philosophers. His popularity is also due to his works which convey wisdom and deep-rooted truth, through the use of the poetic genre and its elements to express deep universal ideas in simple words.
What Is Rumi Philosophy?
As a philosopher, his subject was Sufism. Sufism is a spiritual discipline of Islam that’s peaceful, humanistic, flexible, and non-violent. He believed in the use of music, poetry, and dance as a path to encounter God.

“Look at all animals as you look at humans” is one of his sayings that portrayed this belief.
