What list should I make?
Have you ever found yourself in a state where you were bored, confused, or disoriented? Not a very good place to be in, I know. However, you don’t have to remain that way for long.
Like you, I’ve gotten to this point several times were trying to figure out things and keep a level head at the same time and this was quite difficult. Most times I did certain things to help fix the situation and sometimes, it just did not change.
However, in due course, I got a hang of the whole thing. And I drafted out a few activities designed to get me out of being confused anytime and today, I’m going to share one of such activities: Making lists!
Of course, it doesn’t sound like a very interesting activity, wait till you try it out! Every time I begin to make lists of different things, I ended up being in a better frame of mind. The results are always positive and encouraging! So, let’s dig in!

1. Daily/Weekly To-Do List

The first list to make whenever you feel disoriented and disorganized is your daily/weekly to-do list! Believe me, there’s a high probability of you having a more productive day/ week when you make this list.
Why? Because it gives you a drive, like a list of goals and targets. Apart from the fact that it makes you better prepared to handle your daily/weekly challenges, this list also boosts your ability to handle responsibilities better.
Every important task or deadline should be included in this list. You can also include fun activities like hobbies or even self-care routines.
If you have a football match to watch or a document to submit to your boss, you might want to add this to the list. Little tasks like doing the dishes can also fit into this list. You’re sure to have a more efficient, organized, and stress-free day/week if you make this list often.
2. Why You Are Awesome

Of all the things to list, this one happens to be one of my many personal favorites! Nothing gets you pumped up and energized than reminding yourself of how talented and amazing you are.
It not only changes the direction of your mood but also boosts your self-esteem and strengthens your personal convictions about yourself.
This list not only gives room for expression but also serves as a simple yet reflective way of encouragement. It also gives a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction.
You can start by listing out your latest achievements or taking a walk across your award room. You can also take a look at your certificates or recent wins while smiling to yourself, “I’m the man!”
Recently, I made a list like this after a terrible day at work. It felt good to remind myself that I have and can do a lot of cool things. On a personal note, nothing encourages me better than that.
If you have this list to make among many others, you might be in for a huge boost in your self-esteem. Sometimes, life gets pretty challenging. Making a list like this will always be another route out of a bad mood or state of mind.
3. Budget List (Expenses And Income Tracking Included)

Of all the list to make this one should be taken seriously. Making a list like this comes with a bunch of benefits and advantages like;
- It makes your financial planning easier.
- You get to keep a more efficient and detailed track of your spendings and
- It keeps you more organized.
This is one list that I’ll advise you take seriously. Making a budget list, depending on when you’re getting paid will help you prevent wasteful or unnecessary spending.
It will also give you an edge over life situations especially if you plan on saving. This list is quite simple and does not require much. If you have plans to invest or save money, you might want to add that to the list.
Don’t forget to include your needs too. If you need to get some new clothes or get some painting done in the house then you include that too.
The reason you should make this list frequently is to keep and have a clear picture of what you need and not spend money base on your impulses.
4. Things You’d Like To Accomplish Soon

This is also another very interesting list to make. We all have dreams, aspirations, and a couple of things we’d like to do while we’re still breathing.
Fortunately, you can write all that on this list. Take a minute. Breathe in. Breathe out. Imagine and think of all the things and plans you want to accomplish soon.
Write them down in a simple and comprehensive format. You can even attach possible challenges that you might encounter and also deadlines. Making a list like this is a good way to remind yourself that you can still achieve much more no matter the limitations that you might face.
The items in this list do not necessarily need to be a part of your present priorities. They might just be basic activities that can help you become a better person. Remember, the major and most important factor is you!
5. People You Look Up To

Of all the lists to make, this seems a lot easier and doesn’t require a lot. Having a list of people you admire and look up to is also another awesome way to get motivated.
You can fill this list with people from different career fields and various skills. Musicians, sportsmen, businessmen, or health specialists, so as long as they have a quality that you love and want to have then they are welcome on this list.
I have a notepad at home where I keep a list like this. Whenever I feel discouraged, tired, or on the edge of giving up, I usually take a look at those names. It has a way of revitalizing me.
It gives me a picture of success to look up which most times become the reason for my hard work.
Whenever I remember the commitment and discipline that the people I look up to have put in, I remind myself of my capacity and why I keep doing what I do.
Whatever activities you engage in when you get bored, you might want to try this one too.
6. Memories You Want To Relive

Memories are what make a person’s life real and worth remembering. Guess who said that? Me, of course.
Since we all have moments in our lives that we wish can be relived, making a list of yours can be a very fun way of getting rid of boredom.
Personally, if I ever had a list to make like this last year, I would have added the memory of receiving my first paycheck and clearing off all my student loans!
So as long as you wish it can happen again, then you should add that precious memory to this list.
It could be a memory of when you first got a bike or your first kiss or even an awesome birthday party. Whatever it is you choose to write in this list, just make sure it’s a moment in your life that you’d want to relive again.
7. Habits You Want To Break Out Of

An old Chinese proverb says “Habits are cobwebs at first, cables at last.”
The proverb simply elucidates in one sentence, how impactful the habits we have; good or bad have on our lives.
The proverb also reminds us of how habits grow in strength over time. Everyone has habits that they are most times not proud of. Habits sometimes can become a part and parcel of us to a point where we do not even know that they are there and even when we discover them, we do not eventually want to get rid of them.
A splendid way to begin the journey of getting rid of them is to make a list of such habits.
Apart from the fact that it kills your boredom, writing down those habits helps you become more conscious of their existence and helps you see the need to get rid of them.
If you feel a bit cranky or unsettled, you might want to make a list like this. I have also outlined a detailed article on how to break bad habits and develop new ones to positively impact your life. Feel free to check the article out as you work on eliminating the negative habits in your life that are vehemently limiting you.
8. Appointments You Need To Make

Have you ever felt so dull and uninterested in any activity? This is another fun list to make that will help you get rid of any form of boredom. We all have important places we have to be at every week.
Why not try writing down those appointments along with their dates and time? It could be any kind of appointment. A visit to the dentist or a meeting with your staff.
If it’s important then it should be under this list. Making this list will help you keep a clear track of your movements while also ensuring that you do not forget to meet up with each of those appointments.
Word of advice? Learn to enjoy the thrill of having a list to make like this one because it could become the reason why you don’t end up being late to your next appointment.
Personally, it has become a habit for me to do this and I always keep up with it. At the beginning of each week, I always have a long list to make for all my appointments especially the important ones. This makes it quite difficult to forget. Try drawing out this list and watch your confusion die a peaceful death.
9. Self-Care Ideas That You Need To Adopt

This list happens to be another one of my favorite lists to make. I mean, who wouldn’t enjoy making a list of self-care activities? Self-care activities are basically things you do to improve the state of your mind, body, and soul.
Giving yourself the care that you deserve doesn’t have to be such an expensive chore. You could do several simple things like going for a swim, cycling, putting on a homemade face mask, or even getting a massage.
Even something as little as taking a nap or vibing to a playlist of your favorite songs and podcasts could be super fun.
Anyway, whenever you get perplexed and you want to get off the edge, you can try writing down self-care routines or ideas that you find interesting.
Be sure to let your imagination find expression and you might be surprised by what you might find after you finish making the list. Feel free to get inspired by the several self-care routines and self-care checklists we have published on the blog.
10. Places You Hope To Travel To

We all have dreams of going somewhere located around the world. To help you get rid of that dull feel, you can always make a list of places around the world that you might like to visit.
It doesn’t have to be a very popular place though. As long as it tickles your fancy, then you can write it down. To make your list more interesting, you can stick little paper pictures of such places to help stir your mind and imagination. I thoroughly enjoy the thrill of having a list to make like this
For me, it has always been the Eiffel Tower in Paris and the great walls of China. Also, the Pyramids of Gaza is one of the many places I hope to see. What places would you love to visit and take pictures of? Make a list of them today!
11. Fears

It’s alright to have fears. Everyone has something that pulls their nerves and makes them want to scream “arrghh.” However, your fears, just like everyone else’s can be overcome.
A beautiful way to ease your boredom is by writing down your fears. It can be a fear of water or even the fear of being heartbroken. You might find out after writing this list that there were things you were scared of that you had no idea of.
So, writing this list is not just going to make you feel better but will also help you make certain personal discoveries about your fears, and who knows? How to solve them too. I have also created an ultimate guide on how to overcome your fear and find success in life endeavor to check that out.
12. Quotes That Inspire You
Quotes generally have a way of making us feel motivated and inspired. I have a couple of quotes that I love with my very being. One of such quotes is one from Catherine Pulsifer which says that All have a purpose in life, and when you find yours you will recognize it.
Having a list of such beautiful words will always give you reasons to keeping pressing for growth. It can also become a small source of encouragement when you remember you have a list of the most reassuring words.
Do you have quotes that you love? Then write them down in a neat format and keep them close to somewhere you can always see them. That way, you’re sure to always feel energized and ready whenever you see those quotes. You can also get inspired by our several collections of inspirational and life-changing quotes that will inspire you to succeed and take charge in life.
13. Mistakes That You Regret

I do not fancy having a list to make like this one. However, I began to make this list after certain events happened. When making this list, you might get emotional or even begin to laugh at some of those mistakes.
Why? Because you must have outgrown them already. Remembering the mistakes you’ve made can be very helpful in helping you ensure that you do not make mistakes along that line.
Recently, I got scammed by fraudsters and I lost a huge amount of money. I saw the danger signs but deliberately ignored them because I was desperate. The experience taught me lessons that I can never forget in a hurry.
Make a list of mistakes that you made recently or in the far past. Ensure that the ones you regret the most are included too.
14. Things That Make You Sad Or Stressed

This list caused and helped me change a lot of negative things in my life. In the year 2020, I struggled with an extreme case of low self-esteem, depression, and suicidal tendencies.
It was quite a difficult phase. One of the things that helped me break out of it was when I began to pay attention to the things that made me sad.
I even made a list of them and began to take steps to avoid them. I felt a lot better after making that list and avoiding those things and those people that made me feel sad or emotionally down.
For example, if spending too much time indoors makes you feel a bit down and sad then you might want to write it down in that list. The results were slow but lasting and the changes, encouraging. If you find yourself in a sour mood, you might want to make this another list to make soon
15. Things That Make You Happy And Excited

This happens to be a very fun list to make. We all have happy moments. It wouldn’t hurt a tiny little bit to document some of the reasons that make you happy, would it?
For example, I love making an impact. One of the many things that get me overjoyed is watching my friends or young people take beautiful, bold steps towards the fulfillment of their dreams.
I don’t know why but it gets me all hyped up and giddy. For you, it might be the taste of ice -cream or your birthdays or the notification of a credit alert on your phone.
In this world and in our lives are a lot of things that make us excited when we think about or remember them. Just make a comprehensive list of those things or reasons that make you happy. You’d be sure to find some very interesting facts about yourself that you didn’t even know existed.
16. New Skills You’d Like To Make

A good friend of mine once told me that “the more skills you have, the more valuable you become.” Believe me when I say that advice placed me on a road map into a journey of acquiring skills. Lots and lots of skills.
For instance, the very first skill I acquired was in photography. I also have plans of acquiring skills in videography and graphics designs.
And boy, those are not the only skills I’m going to get. For someone who wants to grow career-wise, acquiring skills in your area of interest is very important.
Sit back and think about it. What skills would be helpful in your sphere of specialization? Would you like to take up such skills? If you would, then it would be wise to make a list of those skills. Remember, keep your lists comprehensive and simple.
17. Areas Of Your Life That You Want To Improve On

For the sake of your growth, you have got to make this list. Another list that I believe you should write when you get confused is this one in particular.
A lot of times we get to discover that some areas of our lives need to be worked on. However, if you check, most times, we never take note of them and give them serious attention.
We only know of an existing need but your brain hasn’t fully acknowledged that list hence no development in that area. I’ll advise that you begin to write down those areas.
For this list, you’ll need to be very specific. Write down exactly what needs to be fixed. If you struggle with being consistent, then note that down. To spice it up, you can even attach possible steps to help deal with those inefficiencies.
That is killing two birds with one huge stone. You’ll find out that making this list will make the process clearer and easier. You’ll know exactly where you need to channel your energy into thereby bringing the needed changes. You know what you need to do now, don’t you? Make that list!

18. Things You’re Grateful For

I had a near-death experience once. That experience placed me in a point where I was grateful for everything including my life and the little I possessed.
Sometimes, in a bid to become better, we get carried away with what we haven’t done and achieved that we do not see any value or even appreciate what we have already become and accomplished.
The day you learn to be grateful for the little things is the day you’ll realize that all this while, you had so much more. That near-death experience taught me to be thankful for what I already am and what I will become.
What are the things you’re grateful for? What things do you appreciate? You can make a long list of those things or people because I believe that you’re definitely going to be grateful for a lot of things. So you do not need to limit yourself when making this list. Endeavor to go all the way! Here is a list of things we need to be more grateful for no matter what as we journey through life and not take for granted.
19. Strengths And Weaknesses

Have you ever taken out time to study your strengths and weaknesses? This is almost a great way to start. The only reason why it’s not a great way to start is that you’ve probably never tried this way out.
Whenever you find yourself being bored to death, you can burn out sometime by listing out those character traits that give you an advantage over others and also those that place you under a bit of a struggle. As simple as this list can be, it can go a long way in switching up your mood.
20. Brain Dump List Of Ideas And Thoughts

You’ll be delighted to find out that I do this a lot! I’ve been doing this since I was a teenager. As a young person, I was a bit introverted so I kept to myself a lot.
The best way I could enjoy my own company was to write and most of those things I wrote about were usually my thoughts and my ideas. My brands were born from those solitary moments when my pen danced furiously over notebooks bleeding mind-blowing ideas like a dying soldier.
After all those brainstorming sessions, I usually felt better about myself. Knowing that my mind was capable of bringing out innovative ideas that good, made me a lot confident in my capacity.
If you ever find yourself in a perplexing spot then this could be your ticket out of there. Another simple method of dealing with boredom is by going through certain kinds of materials that could help you become better. Trust me, these kinds of materials are as interesting and engaging as making lists and maybe even more fun too.
Now, I’d like you to know this. Making lists can be such an interesting and engaging activity that if you do it right, can change how you feel anytime.
I have had pretty rough days where I was discouraged but making a list like my monthly budget made me feel like I was on track. Like I could still hit my targets. You too can have the same or even better experiences if you know how to harness this activity.
Lastly, remember that you’re the major and most important factor of your life and if you don’t do something to change or improve it daily, no one else will.
Save this for later!

The self-care list is a great idea for the people who are so busy that they need to allocate time to practice self-care; having a list is perfect and saves time in this situation. I also really like the idea of having lists of things that make you feel sad, happy, anxious etc. While it may be obvious what makes you sad and happy, having a list with specific things will ensure that you know exactly what situations will trigger those feelings. I would also suggest creating a book list, movie list, tv show list, and a list of hobbies you would like to complete in your life! Overall, this was a very good post!
